What to Expect

The PRP Process

1

Consultation

At Synergy Medical Associates, consultations are where we truly get to know you. We’ll listen to all of your concerns, assess the current condition of your skin, and work with you to determine a treatment plan that fits your goals. From beginning to end, you’ll have our full attention, and we will always treat you with respect as a valued guest.

2

PRP Treatment

During the PRP treatment, blood will be drawn and placed in a centrifuge, and then your provider begins your microneedling. After your microneedling, your provider will apply PRP to the treatment area. Throughout the treatment, you can listen to music, chat with your provider, or simply sit back and relax.

3

Next Steps

After your treatment session is complete, we will assess the treated area and give you a brief review of your post-treatment instructions. At this time, we’ll book any follow-up appointments your treatment plan requires and then you’ll be able to go about the rest of your day normally.

Post Treatment

Post-Care Instructions

Following Your PRP Treatment in Crossville, Synergy Medical Associates Recommends:

Avoid These Medications

Avoid using anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, etc.) for at least 1-week post-treatment. You may use Tylenol for any soreness.

Use Gentle Cleanser

Wait at least 4 hours, then wash with a gentle cleanser and cool water, using clean hands.

Do Not Use

Make sure not to apply anything that will minimize inflammation or decrease swelling. That means no ice, cold compress, arnica, or bromelian on the treatment site. The slight swelling and inflammation are a natural and necessary part of the treatment’s recovery process.

Avoid Strenuous Exercise

Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that cause sweating, such as saunas, jacuzzis, and steam baths for at least 48 hours.

Sleep On Back

Sleep on your back with your head elevated to minimize swelling or pain as needed for 2 to 3 days.

Avoid Picking/Scratching

Do not pick, scratch, or scrub any peeling or flaking skin. Allow this to occur naturally and keep skin moisturized at all times with a hyaluronic acid serum.

Avoid These Products

Avoid topical skincare and Retin-A products for 5 days or until skin is no longer irritated.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Skin Rejuvenation treatment and traditional microneedling?

Microneedling is a popular treatment option at Synergy Medical Associates in Crossville. We use multiple fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. This stimulates the body’s healing response, prompting your skin to produce collagen and elastin—the building blocks of healthy, youthful-looking skin.

Our PRP treatment is unique because it adds Platelet Rich Plasma from your body to boost results. We will perform the microneedling portion, as usual, then apply PRP to the treatment area afterward.

When will I see the results?
How many treatments do I need?

During your initial consultation for PRP treatment in Crossville, we will make a personalized recommendation for the number of treatments needed. We will base it on your overall skincare goals, lifestyle, and budget. We may recommend a series of three or more treatments for optimal results, each scheduled four to six weeks apart.

Is there a reason why someone shouldn't have a Skin Rejuvenation treatment?

If you have active acne, you may want to consider alternative treatments, as the microneedling technique can spread acne-causing bacteria over the skin, in turn causing new breakouts.
Additionally, you may not be a good candidate for PRP if you have the following:

  • Used Accutane within the last three months.
  • Open wounds, cuts, or abrasions.
  • Had radiation on your skin in the previous year.
  • A skin infection or herpes simplex in the treatment area.
  • A history of slow healing or trouble during treatment recovery.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you may also not be a candidate for Skin Rejuvenation microneedling at this time.
